First, download the CAD Pack application by clicking here, or by visiting the design resources page at Herman Miller.
Run the setup program to install CAD Pack on your computer. You can then launch the CAD Pack desktop application by clicking the icon on your desktop.
When CAD Pack starts, it will check for updates to the application itself, and it will also open the Catalog Manager to check for catalog updates. Learn more about the Catalog Manager here.
If you attempt to place products in AutoCAD, or use an item from the CAD Pack Utilities menu in AutoCAD, and you see an error message stating that “AutoLISP is no longer loaded…”, this indicates that you need to install the VBA Enabler. Keep reading.
The VBA Enabler
Beginning with AutoCAD 2010, Autodesk stopped shipping VBA as part of the standard AutoCAD install. CAD Pack requires that VBA be installed in order work properly. If you you don’t know if you have VBA installed, type ‘VBAMAN’ at the command line in AutoCAD. If VBA is installed, you will see the VBA Manager. If VBA is not installed, you will see a message letting you know that you need to download the VBA Enabler.
You can download the VBA Enabler here. Make sure you choose the version appropriate for your version of AutoCAD.
Note:
We have found that some AutoCAD users are choosing to install 32-bit versions of AutoCAD on 64-bit versions of Windows. Most are doing so to enable AutoCAD to interact with applications that are not 64-bit compatible. This makes installing the VBA Enabler more difficult, but not impossible.
In these cases, download the version of the VBA Enabler that is consistent with your version of AutoCAD. For example, AutoCAD 2012 VBA Enabler 32 bit, if you’re running 32 bit AutoCAD on your 64-bit computer. Once it has downloaded, run the executable. It will likely fail. What it did do, however, was extract setup files to “C:\Autodesk\”. We need those files.
Open the folder that matches the version of the Enabler that you just downloaded, and attempted to install. Find the file AcVBAInstaller.msi. Usually that file is found under “\\x86\AcVBAInstaller\”, but you might have to use your computer’s search function to find it. Double click it to run it.
When it completes, find the file labeled vba6.msi. This file is usually found in “\\3rdParty\VBA\”. Again, you may have to use your computer’s search function to find it. Double click to run it.
When it completes, you have now installed the version of the VBA Enabler that matches your version of AutoCAD, but not your version of Windows. This is obviously not something that Autodesk would condone or support. Do so at your own risk.
